The Hamilton County Democratic Party commends Mayor Tim Kelly and the Biden administration for their historic achievements in serving our unhoused neighbors in Chattanooga and the surrounding region. Last month, the Kelly administration announced an incredible 39.8 percent reduction in the number of unsheltered people in Hamilton County from 2022 to 2023. This could not have happened without the robust partnership of the Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition, the City’s Office of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, and funding provided by President Biden’s American Rescue Plan. Local leaders earned the recognition of Marcia Fudge, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, who said, “the City of Chattanooga has not only met, but exceeded its 2022 goals under House America.” We are so grateful for the progress made toward eradicating homelessness in Hamilton County by local activists and a progressive federal government, and we look forward to all the great work to come!
