Tennessee Senate, House speakers seek to shed light on nonprofit groups’ political ‘dark money’ spending (Chattanooga Times Free-Press)

From TFP reporter Andy Sher:

A bill brought by Tennessee’s two top legislative leaders seeking to shed light on political “dark money” groups’ spending within 60 days of Tennessee elections won easy approval in the state Senate on Thursday on a 25-3 vote.

The bill would require IRS tax-exempt groups that spend funds on influencing elections to report aggregate expenditures of $5,000 or more within 60 days of a campaign.
